When temperatures begin to drop and the cold weather sets in, nothing beats cozying up inside by the fireplace. Create a lovely ambiance by making (and lighting) a candle. This Vanilla Bean Noel scented DIY candle fills the room with a festive, warm vanilla fragrance scent! With notes of fresh vanilla bean, rich caramel and soothing cream, this scent is perfect for the most wonderful time of the year and will remind you of what Christmas smells like.

This scented DIY candle features alternating layered red and gold hues. Red is a classic and beautiful holiday color while gold is both glamorous and sophisticated and shakes things up! Easy to make, this project requires some patience as it is important to let each layer cool and harden before pouring the next. This scented DIY candle makes an adorable holiday gift set and is also a great size for a stocking stuffer!
What You’ll Need:
- 4 ounces soy wax or candelilla wax (I used candelilla wax for this recipe)
- 2 teaspoonfuls Vanilla Bean Noel fragrance oil
- 4-ounce bail jar
- 1 mini scoop of bath bomb red powder color
- 1 mini scoop of light gold mica color
- 2 Candle wicks
Directions:
- In a heat safe container, melt 4 oz. of candelilla wax in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time or over a double boiler. Add 2 teaspoonfuls of Vanilla Bean Noel fragrance oil and stir to combine.
- Split the wax into two containers. Each container should have 2 ounces.
- To one container, add 1 mini scoop of bath bomb red powder color. Stir well to completely mix in. Let the wax cool down to about 130°F. This will keep the mica from falling to the bottom of the jar as it hardens. When the wax begins to harden slightly, stir well.
- Cut through half of 2 straws. Place 1 wick through 1 straw. Repeat this for the second wick. The wicks should touch the bottom of the candle. Alternatively, if you don’t have straws you can use bamboo skewers. Wrap the one end of the wick around the bamboo skewer.
- Pour half of the red wax (1 ounce) into the bail jar, and allow to fully cool and harden.
- Reheat the second 2 ounces of wax in the microwave for 10 seconds at a time. Add 1 mini scoop of light gold mica color. Mix well to incorporate the color. Once again, let the wax cool down to about 130°F. When the wax begins to harden slightly, stir well.
- Pour half of the light gold wax (1 ounce) onto the cooled first layer. Allow to fully cool and harden.
- Reheat the last 1 ounce of the red wax in the microwave for 10 seconds at a time. Mix well to incorporate the color and let wax cool down to about 130°F. Pour over the hardened second layer, and allow to fully cool and harden.
- Repeat step 7 for the last 1 ounce of the light gold wax.
- Trim the wick and allow the candle to cure for 48 hours. This allows the fragrance to set up properly. Enjoy!
