If you have extremely sensitive skin, tea tree essential oil sitting on the skin for 10-15 minutes can be a little irritating. If you’re concerned, you can omit it completely from the recipe.
What You’ll Need:
- 2 ounces aloe vera gel
- 0.5 ounces activated charcoal
- 0.25 ounces white kaolin clay
- 5 drops tea tree oil
- Place 2 ounces of aloe vera gel into a mixing bowl.
- Weigh and add 0.5 ounces activated charcoal and 0.25 ounces white kaolin clay.
- Gently stir to incorporate dry ingredients into the gel. Then, using a whisk or hand mixer, blend on low-medium until face mask is creamy and smooth.
- Optional tea tree essential oil can also be added. Continue whisking or mixing on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Fill the face mask into a jar and label.
To use, apply a medium layer to clean, dry skin. Avoiding the eyes, gently massage product onto face. Allow the face mask to sit on the skin for 10-15 minutes. When the mask is dry, use warm water to gently rinse off and pat the skin dry with a towel. There is no need to wash the skin after, but you can if you prefer.
For a full body detox, dry brush your skin then pair this face mask with Grapefruit & Tea Tree Body Wash and Invigorating Organic Detox Body Oil. The combination detoxifies, removes impurities and excess oil, reduces inflammation, and is antibacterial.
Be sure to also try our DIY Armpit Detox. It draws out toxins and chemicals from your skin and armpits, which is especially helpful after many years of conventional deodorant use.
